Ramadan Diary

Hello lovely people,

It's been a while since my last post. the reason being I've literally done nothing interesting this week.
So anyway I thought since we're over half way through ramadan that it would be nice to write about my experiences so far and actually some are the same every year.

Unless you live under a rock (I'm talking to the non-muslims out there) most people know that all of us Muslims are fasting. This month known as Ramadan is a holy month and is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is considered to be the most important since the Quran was revealed upon this month.

I read online a nice explanation of fasting which I will share. "The act of fasting is said to redirect the heart away from worldly activities, its purpose being to cleanse the soul by freeing it from harmful impurities. Ramadan also teaches Muslims how to better practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate; thus encouraging actions of generosity and compulsory charity."

Ok so here is a list of 10 things I've experienced so far. This is not an exhaustive list.

1) The heatwave- so coincidentally since Ramadan started the heatwave also started which has made is super hard to fast and work!

2) Thirst! Need I say more

3) The many trips to the bathroom after jugging down 2 litres of water after closing my fast in the morning.

4) Lack of sleep- Since I work I have to sleep after Taraweeh prayers which means I pretty much sleep for 2 hours before Suhoor/Sehri and after that I can't fall back asleep.

5) Working with no air con- aaarghh

6) Those last few minutes before Iftar- Such. A. Killer

7) Cooking- When I'm cooking, especially when making desserts such as Banoffee pie, its so hard to stop myself from liking my fingers.

8) Spirituality- Its the best feeling ever

9) Lack of patience!

10) Weight loss/gain! Depending of how much/what you eat.

Anyways thats all from me today,

Bye,

Love Humaira

At one with nature

Hello beautiful people,

This post is about what I did on Friday. I would discuss my weekend but all I did was work which isn't interesting enough to talk about.

So anyone, me and one of my oldest friends, Leanne had made plans to go to Dorney Lake. For any of you who dont know about Dorney Lake, its where the rowing events took place during the 2012 Olympics. Whilst driving down to the lake, we managed to get lost on the way. Eventually we took the right turning and arrived at the entrance only to be told but a not so helpful worker that the lake was closed to visitors due to a rowing event. They really should put a sign up saying that :/

During the drive to the lake, I had been telling my friend about how I'd never been Black Park and really wanted to go. So since Dorney Lake was closed we decided to go to Black Park Country Park. Its so funny how things turn out. Not only that but as we got out of the car at Black Park to get a ticket, a lovely lady handed us her parking ticket since she was leaving. It was almost like a sign that we should have come to Black Park instead of Dorney Lake.

Anyway, long story short we eventually got to see a lake and walked around for hours at the park, all the whilst ensuring we took lots of pictures, as you do. The weather was beautiful and we just sat by the lake for another hour before leaving.

It was a shame that I couldn't eat because it was a lovely place for a Picnic. We are definitely going to go back, this time with food!!

Here's a link for anyone who wants to go there and check it out, I highly recommend it.

Bye for now,

Love Humaira

Beauty-ful

Afternoon to you all,

Sorry for the late post. So yesterday I went to the grand opening of my beautiful friend Sahar's salon. She has always said she wanted to open up her own salon and now at the age of 20 that dream has come true. It just goes to show that you can make anything happen if you set your mind to it.

So it began, the big decision of what to wear in this awful heat. Since this heatwave began (coincidentally at the same time as Ramadan) I've find it so hard to find something appropriate to wear. Especially since I am not one to go out with my but cheeks hanging out (no offence to those who do :/) I went through my entire wardrobe, and for those of you who know me, know thats a lot of clothes to rummage through. In the end I decided on a loose cotton blouse and a pair of smart trousers. You can see a picture towards the end.

Anyway back to the Salon. It is located in Hammersmith along the Fulham Palace Road and is called Crown H&B Spa. I'll post a picture of the salon later as well. The place looks lovely from the outside but even better from the inside. With black and white decor you wouldn't think someone so young would be running it. My friend then showed me and the many guests around the Spalon (like what i did there?) It features two facial rooms, a massage room, beauty room, IPL room and even a sauna. All of which I cannot wait to try. They use a french product called Guinot and I received free samples which I will try soon.

All in all the salon looks great and I had a great time at the opening. Pictures are below

See you next time,

Love Humaira x

Here are the shoes that I wore. I had a lot of people asking and they are from Zara :)

Hello World

Hello Beautiful People,

So I've been meaning to create a blog for the longest of times but I just haven't had the time, what with Uni and placement and work. However I thought to myself why wait any longer so here I am, writing my first blog.

So a little about me. I'm 20 years old (soon to be 21) and I was born and raised in London. Now a lot of people complain about life in London, but i absolutely love it. I used to live in London but I actually live just on the outskirts of West London. I live at home with my amazing mummy and my older brother. I am a speech and language therapy student at City University (about to enter my fourth and final year). For those of you who don't know what that is, click here for more info. I love studying speech therapy, its really hard but it's so rewarding and I cant imagine doing anything else.  I work part time in Pandora and I love it. I've been there for almost two years and have made the best of friends during that time. I also have a keen interest in fashion and if you ask any of my friends or family they will say the same and go on about how I'm such a shop-a-holic and that I need to stop shopping. Yeah right. And finally, I love food and you'll see countless pictures of places I've been, lucky you.

Anyway I dont want to bore you any longer, so I'll leave it there for now.

Until next time, Ciao Bella

Love Humaira
